WHY LIGHT THERAPY?
Before the time of rubber soled shoes and concrete dwellings, we were more connected to our natural environment, specifically light. Because light surrounds us everyday, it’s easy to take for granted. Yet, what we perceive as light is actually a form of energy that behaves both as a wave and a stream of particles called photons.
Light streams photons to our bodies—tiny packets of energy with a number of beneficial effects such as restoring balance to the system. According to clinical studies, light therapy has been shown to increase energy; stimulate collagen, ATP and nitric oxide; reduce pain and inflammation; and reduce stress.
WHAT IS LIGHT THERAPY?
Light Therapy has been shown in over 50 years of independent research worldwide to deliver powerful benefits to living tissues and organisms. Visible red, blue and “invisible” infrared light have been shown to effect at least 24 positive changes at the cellular level. These studies also have shown that light energy causes biologic effects based on the knowledge that specific proteins absorb different wavelengths. Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) are a form of light energy that is a relatively recent outgrowth from the laser industry. LED's are similar to lasers inasmuch as they have the same effects but differ in the way that the light energy is delivered. LED disperses light (red, blue or infrared) over a greater surface area; this tends to result in shorter session times for a given area. LED light is a safe, noninvasive way to ‘enlighten’ cells.
-How does it increase circulation or reduce pain?
The infrared photo energy stimulates nitric oxide from the hemoglobin and surrounding tissue. Nitric oxide is a signaling molecule that is known to relax smooth muscle cells found in the arteries, veins, capillaries, and lymph vessels. When these muscles relax they dilate blood vessels, thus allowing increased circulation. Nitric oxide has also been shown to be essential for wound healing, even if chronic or traumatic.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
All of the sessions are pleasant, completely safe, non-invasive, and produce dramatic results, most in a very short period of time. Photo-therapeutic treatments have been cleared by the FDA and are classified as completely safe and present no harmful overexposure. It is recommended to receive at least 5 sessions over a span of 2-4 weeks for optimal results.
• Increases circulation, and range of motion
• Promotes cell regeneration, speeding up the healing process
• Relieves nerve pain
• Detoxification – supports elimination of toxins: heavy metals, free radicals, chemicals, etc.
• Increases nitric oxide creating the “feel good” effect
• Stimulates collagen creating an anti-aging effect
• Increases lymphatic activity/drainage
• Reduces pain, inflammation, and swelling
• Stress reduction, balancing and calming
• Improves relaxation and sleep – stimulated release of ATP (a form of energy that cells utilize for regeneration)
• Stimulates endorphin and serotonin levels
• Some diabetic patients experience an increase in sensation and circulation
This isn't limited to what is listed above, lights are capable of doing so much more!!
